Is Media good or bad for the community?
Speaking to a fellow pair of swinger podcasters this afternoon and while discussing their experience on the most recent Channel 4 television program about swingers, and this was one of my responses to him during the brief conversation we had on Instagram. I honestly thought it was so funny, so i thought it was best I do a quick blog about it...
The message read.........
'TV programs are good at getting certain unknown subjects into the public domain, which 100% needs to be done in order to normalise it. And I suppose the more the vanilla part of the world are exposed to certain aspects of it, the less it remains shocking to them. But people still get so triggered by it all, you can litterly see it in interactions and responses. Its even more funny to watch in real life interactions, when we come across telling people in real life.
I was referring to how the media desensitises certain taboo subjects by making them out to be worse than they are. A fine example was how in the 70's (which was actually the 60's- I made a slight mistake there) there were quite a few movies coming out which portrayed men who dressed up in female clothing out to be psychopaths..(The film Psycho was where I was going- but again couldn't retain that in the moment-so but he corrected me) Yet most recent research has shown the complete opposite.. That TS 'a and TV' s are actually rather very gentle men, Not psycho killers (which falsely influenced a whole generation into believing) and the Jaws films are a 2nd example of how misinformation within the media (as in films) can brainwash people. Jaws made a whole generation (possibly even more) Because many who watch it to this day are still being tricked into believing that sharks are aggressive killers, when in reality they are not..
----The end of the response.
Good old media hey.
